Abstract
174,213. Bevan, H., and Jones, C. W. Oct. 28, 1920. Hoods.-A motor-car hood, in which the rear cant-rail is connected at its rear end to a falling-pillar and at its forward end either to a front falling-pillar carrying a forward cant-rail or directly to a forward cant-rail, is extended and collapsed by mechanism comprising a plate b fixed to the rear cant-rail a and formed with a downward and rearward extension b<1>, b<2> pivoted at c to the falling-pillar d and connected at its rear end to a forwardly and upwardly extending link f hinged to a two-armed lever h pivoted at i to a projection on the. pillar d and linked at the other end to an arm l hinged at its rear end to the cant-rail a and carrying at its forward end a hoop-stick m and a link t connecting it to the front cant-rail v on which are a bracket w and stop-pin w<1> to engage the rear cant-rail in the collapsed position. When the front pillar is dispensed with, the extension b<1> is carried downwards beyond the pivot c to form an additional extension which is connected to one end of a jointed stretcher-bar attached at its other end to the body.
