Abstract

248,677. Bunn, C. W. Nov. 16, 1925. Hoods.-In a hood fitting the rear end of the cantrail is hinged directly to the upper part of the falling pillar, which is provided with a lever connected at its ends to a back stay and a link, the forward end of this link being pivoted to the cantrail in advance of the hinge connection. A plate 1 on the upper part of the folding pillar has a lug to which is hinged at 4 a plate 2 on the rear part of the cantrail, and the parts 1, 2 have thickened portions 5, 6 respectively. A lever 8 is mounted upon a pivot 7 in the plate 1, and its rearward arm 9 is pivotally connected to the back stay 12, which is pivoted at 13 to a plate 14 on the body of the vehicle. The forward end 10 of the lever 8 is pivoted at 15 to a curved link 16, which is pivoted at 17 to a plate secured to the front of the plate 2. The parts are covered by plates 19, 20. When the cantrail is raised, the parts are moved backwardly into the position shown in Fig. 4. The bracket 14 may be provided with a hinged plate 21 for attachment to the following pillar.
