Water-tube boilers.-Relates to water-tube boilers comprising a bank of inclined and staggered water tubes 2 connecting front and rear water compartments 3, 4, a plurality of rows of water tubes below said bank exposed to the radiant heat of the furnace and having the tubes in the lowermost row 8 situated directly under the corresponding tubes in the next row above, and a roof baffle 15 extending longitudinally of the tubes above the lower tubes and having an upwardly extending baffle 16 arranged at its inner end, and consists in the provision of a furnace 12 fitted with double-firing mechanism comprising underfeed stokers 13, 14 projecting upwardly from the opposite front and rear ends of the furnace. The boiler showns is of the Babcock and Wilcox type, and may be fitted with a superheater 19. The number of the lower rows of tubes placed directly over each other may be varied.
