[Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having serpentine tubes with bends forming a number of tube groups 1, 2, the tubes of the tube groups first swept by the furnace gases are arranged in a greater number of rows than the tubes in the other groups. The lower tubes 12, 13 of the first tube group are more widely pitched than the other tubes of the group. The tubes of first tube group may be more steeply inclined than the tubes of the other groups.
