Two-stroke-cycle engines; pumps, ports and passages in; driving-gear.-An engine which compresses scavenging-air in its crank casing has a combustiblemixture pump o with terminal inlet ports b and a delivery passage d in the piston terminating in a port e, which registers with a port f in the cylinder i. The pump piston is actuated by an eccentric r set a little in advance of the main crank ; or a grooved cam may be used. Combustible mixture enters the cylinder after the closing of the exhaust ports g. Modifications are described in which a two-cylinder engine is charged with combustible mixture by (1) a double-acting pump, and (2) a single-acting pump driven at twice the speed of the crank-shaft.
