Abstract

19,438. Benier, L. Sept. 20, 1912, [Convention date]. Two-stroke-cycle engines.- In an engine having a separate charging-pump the piston of which is in advance of the working piston, admission of combustible mixture to the pump is controlled by the working piston through which the mixture passes. The invention is described in connexion with a revolving-cylinder engine having a fixed crank-shaft and in which the pumps and the working cylinders are alternately disposed in a common plane. Combustible mixture is admitted to the crank casing, and, after traversing a working piston, is admitted by a passage C and port X to a pump suctionpipe A<2>, which also serves as a delivery pipe when the piston uncovers the port X at the end of its outstroke. To facilitate scavenging, cooled exhaust gases are admitted to the ends of the pipes A<2> through passages B when the pistons approach the limit of each outstroke.
