Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In an engine having oppositely - moving pistons, which control the inlet and exhaust ports in the combustion chamber, and compress separately, in closed crank casings at the ends of the cylinders, air and combustible mixture, the pistons control the inlet orifices to the crank casings. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the piston - controlled air and combustible - mixture inlet ports to the crank casings are shown at 11, 17 respectively. The piston 3 controls the ports 11 and the exhaust ports 21, and the piston 4 the ports'17 and the cylinder admission ports 14, 16.
