Abstract
7515. Harveng, J. d'. March 29. Two-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear; cylinders, passages of.-The passages leading from the pumps to the working cylinder are in the form of reservoirs continually increasing in sectional area throughout their length towards the cylinder-inlet ports. The form is preferably that given by a logarithmic formula, but a conical or other form may be employed. The invention is described in connection with an Oechelhauser engine having separate air and gas pumps, connected to the inlet ports 4, 4<1>, of the working cylinder 1 by conduits 12, 13 of the form described, opening into the inlet chambers 5, 5<1>. The pumps are driven direct by extensions of the side rods through which the piston 3 drives the crank-shaft. The invention is especially applicable to engines in which control is effected by holding open the inlet valves of the air and gas pumps during the earlier part of the delivery stroke.
