2800. Scharenberg, O. Feb. 5. Gas engines of the oscillating-vane type have. a piston which drives a fly-wheel by means of two links and a double crank. The engine works an. air and gas compressor of the same type. Fig. 1 shows the engine in cross-section and Fig. 2 shows the arrangement for driving the fly-wheel, the beam 15 being secured to the piston 2. Air inlets 4 and gas inlets 5 are provided, and also exhaust ports 11. The piston is hollow to permit of internal water cooling. The compressor, which is carried on the main shaft 1, is shown in section in Fig. 5. One side of the piston. pumps air through the port 41 to the air reservoir, and the other side pumps gas to the gas reservoir, the details of the pump valves not being shown. The pistons are packed as shown.
