Two-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear; pumps. -In an engine of the kind described in Specification 136,354 in which oppositely-moving pistons d, e uncover respectively the exhaust and the inlet ports and the piston d is connected with the crankshaft through a cross-beam r piston-rods q and slippers f enclosing gudgeons b and working in closed guides s to compress air and gaseous fuel, air only is compressed in the guides s which may be of circular or other section, and liquid fuel is employed. The air is admitted into the pumpspaces s through piston or valve-controlled ports and is delivered to the inlet ports k through separate pipes p which may contain valves, or through valves into a main air trunk having branches to the cylinder inlet ports. Any number of engine units such as that described may be arranged radially around the crank and shaft.
