Abstract
15,062. Pauilhac, J. J. G. July 7, 1911, [Convention date]. Composite springs; connexions and attachments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs.-Relates to shock-absorbers for vehicles, of the type in which a spring, which is less sensitive than the usual laminated spring, is inserted between the ends of the laminated spring and the spring or dumb-iron on the vehicle frame, so as to take the light shocks, heavy shocks being taken by the laminated spring alone. The invention consists in employing a V-shaped spring 4, 5 alone, as shown in Fig. 1, or in combination with a helical spring 10, as shown in Fig. 2, the helical spring being still less sensitive than the V-shaped spring. The V-shaped spring, Fig. 2, has one arm 5 connected with the frame spring 6 by a pin 9, and the other with a shackle 7, and the apex is connected by a yoke 11 with the helical spring 10 bearing upon the laminated spring 1. The shackle 7 is slotted at 8 to permit motion of the pin 9 and to allow the shackle to come into operation in case of breakage.
