Abstract

22,776. Maschinenfabrik G. Schwager. July 31, [Convention date]. Composite springs; dash-pots; connexions and attachments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs. - Relates to piston and cylinder spring devices mounted between the end of the usual laminated springs and a spring or dumbiron on the vehicle frame, and consists in checking the recoil of the springs in the cylinder by providing holes in the cylinder bottom through which air can slowly escape in front of the piston. Fig. 1 shows a spring device provided with eyes 4, 5 for connecting it with the laminated spring and frame member. The coil spring 6 cushions upward movements of the piston 2, during which air is admitted through holes 8 in the cylinder end. The return of the piston is resisted partly by the spring 7 and partly by the slow escape of air through the holes 8.
