Composite, helical, and pneumatic springs; connexions and attachments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs.-Relates to spring wheels, and consists in arranging telescopic spring members, containing two - way compression helical springs, near the hub, or between inner and outer rims, Fig. 6, tangentially, equally spaced, and inclined in the same direction. The members are arranged on transverse pivot pins, The main spring may be assisted by admitting air through apertures in the cylinders. A supplementary helical spring or pneumatic cushion is fitted to each telescopic member so that the resistance to shortening is increased. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the cylinder 6 contains two pistons 7, 8 separated by a main spring 10. The piston 7 is formed with a rod 11, with a piston head 12 slidable in a sleeve 14 movable through the end of the cylinder. The space 36<1> inside the sleeve 14 contains a supplementary air cushion or spring. In the form shown in Fig. 11, the supplementary spring is arranged directly between the head 12 and the end of the cylinder containing the piston 7. In the form shown in Fig. 12, the supplementary spring 10<1> fits in a boring in the rod 11 and head 12.
