Composite springs; connexions and attachments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs.- Relates to shock - absorbers for use in conjunction with laminated vehicle springs, and of the type in which a rod connected with the end of the axle spring passes through a buffer-spring supported on a plate secured to the end of the rod, the other end of the spring bearing upon a member secured to the frame spring or dumb-iron. The invention consists in the combination of parts described and illustrated. Fig. 1 shows a pistonrod 6 of rectangular cross-section guided for the greater part of its length in a sleeve 13 extending from the cylinder 1, a slot 9 being formed in the piston-rod to allow for the passage of the pin connecting the cylinder with the end of the axle spring. The piston-rod is connected at one end to a piston 7 operating upon a volute spring 3, and at the other end is provided with an eye 2 for connexion to the frame spring member or dumb-iron.
