Abstract

Composite springs; connexions, attachments, and adjustments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs ; Belleville washers threaded on central rod.-Relates to springs of the type comprising a series of dished washers which are threaded on a rod as shown, and may vary in diameter or thickness or both so that they come into action progressively. According to the invention washers are provided with washers c of vulcanized fibre &c. for limiting the flexion. The dished washers are preferably split at one side. For road, motor, railway, and other vehicles, a series of dished disks, as described above, may be interposed between the ordinary leaf springs and the body of the vehicle, with or without a light helical spring in addition to take light loads. Fig. 3 shows another arrangement in which the leaf springs k are combined with the disks. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the rod b can slide through a hole in a guide stud m, which can swivel in bearings in brackets o.
