18,123. Pelterie, R. Esnault-. Aug. 17, 1910, [Convention date]. Shock of landing, deadening.-A landing- device for aeroplanes comprises two wheels with a skid between, or two skids with a central wheel. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a central skid A is connected to the frame through a sliding collar B and a hydro-pneumatic brake E, a spring F being used to dtaw the brake piston D out of the cylinder after action. The wheels I, J are connected to the skid by hinged links G, H and to the frame by telescopic rods K. M, L, N. the rods M, N having arms m, n sliding in tubes O, P which are pivoted to the frame at q, r. Suitable brakes are applied to the wheels, operated by cords S, T having interposed springs U. The wheels contact first with the ground; they are retarded for a time by the brakes, and then, as the links carrying the wheels yield, the skid contacts with the ground. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), a single central wheel may be connected to the hydropneumatic brake device, and skids may be resiliently connected with the frame at each side of the wheel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
