Buffers; vibrationdampers. - Relates to spring struts for aeroplane under-carriages in which telescopic elements and a brake to retard relative movement of the elements are provided. The strut consists of two telescopic tubes 1, 2, helical compression springs 5 being interposed between the end of the inner tube 2 and a pistonlike member 4 which slides in the tube 2. The outer tube 1 transmits thrust to the piston member 4 through a central rod 8, cam member 9, and links 5, the cam member 9 and the ends of the links 5 being so associated as to expand brake members 6, 7 against the inner cylinder 2 when the springs 3 are compressed. A buffer spring 16 is interposed between the member 9 and one end of the tube 2. A spring 15 acting on a tension rod 14 keeps the brake members always in engagement with the tube 2.
