Abstract
828,795. Pneumatic springs; rubber springs. SPENCER, MOULTON & CO. Ltd., G. June 6, 1957 [March 6, 1956], No. 7002/56. Class 108(3) An hydraulic shock absorbing device including a telescoping corrugated rubber bellows 1 having a fabric reinforcing layer 26 has metal rings 28 which resist outward radial movement of the bellows and guide the bellows during telescoping movements. The outer sheath 27 is of rubber or braided wire. The bellows 1 is connected at one end to a buffer head 4 and at the other end to a buffer casing 7. Buffer sleeve 10 slides in a casing 11. During compression hydraulic liquid is forced through a constant leak valve 12 into a recuperating chamber 15, thus compressing the air isolated above a diaphragm 16. A rod 20 and a rubber compression spring 22 co-operate with an auxiliary cylinder 21 to control rebound of the buffer head 4.
