Abstract

18,781. Offenbacher, M. Aug. 9. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In engines in which some of the gas in the cylinder is trapped in a reservoir and used to spray the liquid fuel into the cylinder at the beginning of the working stroke, the reservoir b is made large enough to keep up the air pressure during spraying, and the oil delivery pipe c discharges between the outlet d and the reservoir. The reservoir may be waterjacketed, and one reservoir may serve many cylinders. There may be only one valve g between the cylinder and the reservoir, or two, one for the passage of gas into the reservoir, and the other for spraying.
