Abstract
190,693. Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin. Dec. 24, 1921, [Convention date]. Reversing-gearing of the kind in which toothed wheels are moved in their own planes into mesh, and operated hydraulically as described in Specification 128,206, is provided with manuallyactuated means for turning one of the stopped wheels that are to be meshed into proper position for interengagement. A driving pinion 1 is secured to a fixed shaft 4. The wheel 2 to be driven is supported in a pivoted frame 16 so that it can be intermeshed with the pinion 1 for forward driving. An idler 3 supported eccentrically is adapted to be meshed with the pinion 1 and with the wheel 2 for reversed driving. The reversing-gear is operated by oil under pressure controlled from a distributing valve 24. A device 8 operates to keep a valve 7 closed as long as the gears are in motion, but allows that valve to open to effect the change of mesh when the gears stop. The shaft 4 is turned by a hand lever 21 to bring the teeth of the wheels to positions in which they will engage. The lever 21 is capable of two motions, one at right angles to the plane of the paper to engage and disengage a clutch, and one in the plane of the paper to turn the clutchengaged shaft.
