Alloys.-A self-hardening steel alloy for permanent magents contains 1-5 per cent of chromium, 1-3 per cent of manganese, and 0.5-1 per cent of carbon, with or without the addition of one or more of the following elements : tungsten, cobalt, molybdenum, vanadium, silicon, copper, nickel, aluminium, uranium, zirconium, boron.
