Abstract
191,918. Miles, P. de. Dec. 7, 1921. Alloys.-An alloy is composed of 60-70 per cent of a silico-nickel containing 1-5 per cent of silicon, 12-IS per cent of a ferro-manganese containing 20-25 per cent of manganese, 1.5- 2.5 per cent of carbon, 3-5 per cent of tungsten, and substantially all the remainder chromium. The nickel may be wholly or partly replaced by cobalt, and the tungsten by molybdenum. During manufacture, a small quantity of aluminium may be added, a trace of which remains. An average alloy may contain 10.64 per cent of iron, 1.64 per cent of carbon, 0.02 per cent of aluminium, 62.2 per cent of nickel, 1.73 per cent of silicon, 17.65 per cent of chromium, 3.73 per cent of tungsten, and 2.42 per cent of manganese.
