Abstract

Spray carburettors.-The float chamber h is vertically adjustable on an arm g carried by the carburettor body and supplies fuel through a flexible pipe k to a nozzle l provided at the upper end with layers of gauge m, through which the fuel is forced by exhaust gases or compressed gases from the cylinder admitted by pipes n, o. To prevent the fuel from entering the pipe n, a non-return valve may be provided, or the tubes o may be bent as shown, the upper ends thereof rising above the normal level of the fuel. The carburettor may be provided with a jacket c supplied with exhaust gases thruogh a pipe e. The pipe n may be branched from the pipe e and may be provided with a valve r to control the flow of the exhaust, or to put the pipe in communication with the atmosphere. The valve may be actuated by a Bowden wire or may be interconnected with the throttle valve q. Layers of gauze p may be provided below the throttle valve to prevent damage from back-firing.
