188,360. Chandler, J. H. July 6, 1921. Couplings for road vehicles.-A draught gear and buffer mechanism for road vehicles, adapted to assist a trailer to follow in the track of the hauling unit when turning corners, consists of a duplex device one of which is located at each side of the vehicle and comprises spaced bearings A, A<1> each containing a sleeve B, B<1> adapted to slide therein and fitted with a collar C, C<1> which abuts on the adjacent bearing, a coiled spring H compressed between the collars, other collars D, D<1> on the outer ends of the sleeves B, B<1>, a traction rod E extending through and slidable in the sleeves, and stops F, G at the ends of the rod against which the collars D, D<1> are forced by the spring H, the arrangement causing the spring to be compressed when either end of the rod E is pulled or pushed.
