Axles.-A vehicle axle comprises two symmetrical parts a connected together, preferably by means of flanges b and bolts, in a transverse vertical plane at or about the longitudinal centre of the axle, each part being provided with an inner bore f and outer bore, d tapered in opposite directions. The outer bore d which is adapted to receive a stationary and detachable stub axle, converges inwardly and terminates in a shoulder e at the outer end of the bore f which is of larger diameter than the bore d. The exterior of the main axle tapers from the centre outwards to the ends.
