Abstract
411,824. Vehicle spring - suspensions. SCHROTER, K., and SCHROTER, H., 182, M³llerstrasse, Berlin. Dec. 12, 1932, No. 35237. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 12, 1933.] [Class 108 (ii).] Swinging half axles 1 or stub axles of road vehicles are connected with the vehicle frame 4 by means of upper and lower pivoted links 3, 2 of different lengths, while on each side a spring 9 supported against the vehicle frame at 14 acts upon the outer pivot 7 of the shorter link at an acute angle so that, upon upward swinging of a wheel, the effective leverage of the spring is substantially increased. Preferably the lengths of the links and the angle at which the spring 9 normally acts are so chosen that at the maximum upward swing of the axle the effective leverage is increased at least in the ratio 3 : 2. As shown the spring 9 is disposed between a pair of spring plates 10, 11 mounted respectively upon telescopically arranged rods 12, 13, the ends of the spring preferably being welded to the spring plates. The guide rods may be made tubular so as to receive lubricant for lubricating the joints 7, 14 and the contacting surfaces between the rods 12, 13.
