Abstract

446,985. Vehicle spring-suspensions. ALVIS CAR & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and CLARKE, G. T., SMITH-, Holyhead Road, Coventry. Jan. 18, 1935, No. 1717. [Class 108 (ii)] A vehicle suspension comprises a torsion spring connected at its held end to the chassisframe and at its other end to an arm associated with a roadwheel, through a resilient mass. As shown in Fig. 3 a longitudinally or transversely -extending spring torsion bar 11 is splined at its ends where it engages respectively in a splined sleeve 17 fixed to the chassisframe 18 and on the splined, sleeve-like end of the arm 16 which end is rotatably mounted in chassis brackets 24, the splines on the cooperating members being separated by blocks of rubber. In order to adjust the spring, the sleeve 17 is formed with an arm 20, Fig. 5, engaged by adjustable, lockable screws 21.
