Abstract

454,581. Vehicle spring-suspensions. DAIMLER - BENZ AKT. - GES., Untert³rkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. April 3, 1935, No. 10403. Convention date, April 3, 1934. [Class 108 (ii)] In spring-suspension systems, more particularly for independently-guided wheels of powerdriven vehicles and in which an axle unit including the wheel-guiding members such as half-axles, links, or leaf-springs, is mounted on a bearing member, the unit is secured to the vehicle frame by means of a stud-like projection on the bearing member engaging a longitudinally-extending bore in the frame. As shown in Fig. 2, the wheels are secured to transverse springs n<1>, n<2> fixed to a member o having a pin o<1> mounted in a tubular frame-member p, with the interposition of a rubber sleeve e which may be vulcanized or stuck to the adjacent parts and/or connected thereto by ribs &c. on the frame. In another construction, Fig. 4, the bearing member s has a tubular extension 8<SP>1> which is surrounded by a rubber sleeve t<3> and inserted in a rigid sleeve t<4> removably secured to the frame so that the axle unit may be removed as a whole. The rubber may be vulcanized to the bearing- member and sleeve t<4>. In a modification, Fig. 5, a transverse pin n fixed in the tubular frame member u<1> extends through the tubular extension u<2> and is separated therefrom by a rubber sleeve u3.
