Abstract

504,964. Vehicle spring - suspensions. PORSCHE, F. Jan. 31, 1938, No. 2956. Convention date, March 8, 1937. Addition to 410,657. [Class 108 (ii)] In the spring-suspension described in the parent Specification in which a torsion bar is connected to the frame and to a wheel-carrying lever or the like by means of teeth or corrugations, the number of teeth or corrugations at one end of the bar being different from the number at the other end, the bar 2 is provided with a four-sided or polygonal portion 4 at its wheel end and is connected with the wheel-carrying lever 1 by means of a sleeve 3, the outer surface of which is provided with the teeth or corrugations and the inner surface of which is adapted to the shape of the end of the torsion bar. The bar may also be made four-sided or polygonal and be provided with a corresponding sleeve at its frame end. As shown, the sleeve 3 is formed with a groove or hexagon 7 to facilitate adjustment and is secured against longitudinal displacement in the lever 1 by a pin 9. Means are provided to prevent axial displacement of the bar 2. The method of adjusting the bar in relation'to the lever is described in the Specification.
