Abstract

963,370. Laminated spring suspensions. SCAMMELL LORRIES Ltd. Oct. 18, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1961], No. 37323/61. Heading B7D. The longitudinal leaf spring 4 supporting a coaxial pair of road wheels of a vehicle 6 is connected at each end to a vehicle chassis bracket 2 by interengaging part-spherical member 10 and seating 8 to permit movement about a longitudinal vehicle axis. Each member 10 has a tongue 11 slidable in an individual longitudinal slot 12 in the end of upper spring leaf 13 and is maintained against corresponding low friction seating 8 on one of the brackets 2 by a hairpin-shaped spring leaf or by an adjustable bolt 17 which engages a stoppiece 18 the head of which has the same centre of curvature as the corresponding part-spherical member 10. The stub axle mounting is located longitudinally of the vehicle by a channelsection link 20 having pins 24 at its ends borne in resilient bushes in lugs 27 on one of the brackets 2 and on the stub axle mounting. Alternatively, a second link 20 may be used connected to the other bracket 2.
