Abstract
286,153. Abramson, A. July 27, 1927. Addition to 284,791. Differential gearing comprises a cross bolt or tappet 6 which drives part axles, 1, 1<1> so as to allow either to overrun to a limited extent. The tappet 6 is carried by the driving-member 3 and is adapted to engage drivingly drivers or lugs 7, 7<1> on the inner ends of the axles. According to the invention, when one part axle overruns, the other is automatically locked to the driving- member. This locking is effected by a ball 41 carried in a transverse recess in a diametral bar 40 secured to the member 3. When the vehicle is running straight, the ball 41 projects in part into two V recesses 30, 30<1> in the drivers 7, 7<1>. When, say, driver 7<1> overruns, the ball 41 is thrust clear of that driver, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to engage fully the other driver, and lock it to member 3.
