Abstract

180,574. Marks, E. C. R., (Reichstein Brennabora-Werke, Geb.). June 15, 1921. Pivoting-adjustments.-In a foldable stay or strut for vehicles, more particularly for the covers of perambulators, an arm b is pivoted in a casing a within which is slidably mounted the end of the arm h, the parts being arranged so that when the arm b is folded down to collapse the hood or cover, a projection c engages a recess m in a slide f, which is moved to compress a spring i, as shown in Fig. 11. The spring i engages at one end with an angled member f<2> of the slide, and it encircles a reduced end of the arm h. By this arrangement, the rod h can compress the spring through the slide f when the stretched cover is under too great a tension. When the arm b is in an intermediate position, as shown in Fig. 10, the projection c is in engagement with the recess m of the slide f, and the action of the spring maintains the arm b in this position.
