Driving-gear.-A cooling-fan 50 of an internalcombustion engine is driven through spur gearing 19 on the overhead cam'shaft 8 and a friction clutch. A spindle 24 revolves in ball bearings and carries a pinion 26 at one end, and at the other is keyed the hub 27 of the fan. A boss 51 carrying the blades is connected to the hub by being pressed against a flange 28 on it by springs 38 acting through a plate 34.
