Abstract

Magnetos, driving. - In internal-combustion engines, more particularly those adapted for motor-cycles, a gear-wheel loosely mounted on the main shaft engages with a gear-wheel of the magneto train of gears whilst also forming part of the change-speed mechanism of the engine. Fig. 2 shows the crank-shaft 1 having gear-wheels 2, 7 keyed thereon and the main shaft 4 to which the drive is transmitted by the gear-wheel 6. The wheel 3 is loosely mounted on the shaft 4 and engages the loosely-mounted wheel 15, which meshes with the wheel driving the magneto. The wheel 6 is driven either by the wheel 7 or, when in contact with the wheel 3, by dogs 8, 9 and the gear-wheels 2, 3.
