Abstract

174,170. Aymard, M. r. L. A. Oct. 16, 1920. Variable-speed and reversing gearing, suitable for motor vehicles, of the kind in which a movable disc 1 drives rollers 2, 3, which are connected through an epicyclic train 10, 11, 12, Fig. 1, is combined with an inner differential or balance gear 14<1> having a casing 28. The driven element of the variable-speed gear is the carrier of the planet gears 12, which takes the form of a diametral spindle 14 passing through the casing 28. The rollers 2, 3 are secured respectively to the side gears 10, 11 and supported on ball bearings. The disc 1 may be slid laterally in its own plane, or may be adapted to swing about a pivot 59, Fig. 3. The epicyclic train is contained in a fixed casing 46.
