Abstract
174,157. Widdop Engine Co., Ltd., and Widdop, H. Oct. 15, 1920. Centrifugal governors; transmitting-mechanism. -A centrifugal governor for engines comprises a weighted arm 4 pivoted at a on an annular member 5, which surrounds the shaft and is pivoted at b near its periphery to the fly-wheel or other rotary part. A pin 4<a> on the end of the arm 4 engages a curved slot 5<a> in the member 5, the radius of curvature of the slot being different from the radius of the pin about the pivot a, so that, as the arm 4 moves outwards under centrifugal force, the pin 4<a> moves the member 5 about the pivot b, this movement being transmitted to the valve &c. of the engine by a sliding bar 10 carrying a roller 9 engaging the member 5. The movement of the arm 4 is opposed by an adjustable spring 6.
