Abstract
141,328. American Bosch Magneto Corporation, (Assignees of Lang, G. J.). April 8, 1919, [Convention date]. Magnetos, driving. -Mechanism is provided for changing the period of actuation of the trip-lever 5 of an oscillating magneto 6 for a lowspeed engine from full retard (at starting) to full advance (at running) in a single step. The lever 5 is tripped during normal running of the engine by a pin 4 on the half-time gear-wheel 3. At starting, the pin is surrounded by the curved arm 9 of a member loosely pivoted on the stud 8 and having a weighted portion 10. After the first few power strokes of the engine, the centrifugal action of the portion 10 moves the arm 9 away from the pin into the inoperative position shown in dotted lines. The arm 9 may be held in its starting and inoperative positions by means of spring clips or latches 12, 13. The trip-lever 5 may be curved and the parts 4, 9 rounded so as to produce a rolling and sliding action and reduce shock.
