Abstract

Magnetos, driving. - In trip devices for the ignition magnetos of internal-combustion engines wherein at low speeds the magneto spindle a is held stationary, by a catch n projected by gravity into the path of a fixed stop, while a spring i is being tensioned by the continued rotation of the engine shaft, and the catch is then raised from the stop by a cam to permit the spring to trip the magneto, two diametrically-opposite catches n are provided consisting of the tails of hook-shaped members o provided with weights p. The two catches are assembled, as shown in Fig. 9, so as to surround a sleeve f attached to a disc e connected to the engine shaft and so that the two hooks a.nd catches operate in one plane. Projections on the end of the sleeve f serve to raise the hooks to withdraw the catches.
