Abstract
154,689. Williams, R. A. Aug. 29, 1919. Magneto-electric machines.-High-tension ignition magnetos of the rotating-magnet type in which the magnet is placed on the fly-wheel or other rotating part of the engine are constructed so that the armature core is parallel to the shaft axis. As shown in Fig. 2, the magnet C is fitted through a slot C<1> in the fly-wheel A. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, a bar magnet K is secured to the fly-wheel by means of brass bolts and distance-pieces L, M. The contact-breaker is formed by placing on the rotating part a brasscontact piece G having insulated gaps H therein co-operating with a fixed spring plate F. Alternatively, the form shown in Fig. 7 may be used.
