697,856. Dynamo-electric machines. NORIS ZUND-LICHT AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1950 [Oct. 31, 1949], No. 26584/50. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVII] In a motor-vehicle internal-combustion engine having an ignition and lighting dynamo set and a distributer, if required, the magneto 2, the lighting dynamo 1 and, if provided, the distributer, are arranged separate from but adjacent one another and mounted on the crank case 23 and covered by a common cover 15. Within the cover 15 is located ignition magneto 2 with a rotating H-shaped permanent magnet 7 and induction coil 9, the dynamo 1 and a regulator 3 fixed to the dynamo casing. The shafts of both machines are overhung, the magneto 2 being driven from a cam-shaft extension 19 and the dynamo 1 from a crank-shaft extension 18; the outer end of the magneto shaft embodies cams for operation of the interrupter 10 whilst a cooling fan 6 is secured to the outer extremity of the dynamo shaft: the fan 6 may be fixed to one of the other shafts. In a modification, the magneto and dynamo are each driven from a different crank-shaft of a multi-cylinder engine whilst the distributer is driven by the cam-shaft. The crank and cam-shafts may be connected to their respective machines by couplings, not shown.
