Abstract

8766. Maybach, W. April 15, 1911, [Convention date]. Four-stroke-cycle engines. - An oscillating cylinder is supported from a crank shaft which rotates at one-half the speed of, and in an opposite direction to, the main shaft, the throw of the crank being equal approximately to the height of the compression space. As shown in Fig. 2, the piston b is connected to the main crank k, and the cylinder is supported from an overhead crank-shaft d. A distributing port m is formed in a plate l held in position by guidebars s and sliding over a fixed plate n provided with admission, exhaust, and ignition ports p, o, q respectively.
