Abstract

403,728. Speed governors. PULLIN, C. G., and DOUGLAS MOTORS (1932), Ltd., Douglas Road, Kingswood, Bristol. July 1, 1932, No. 18666. [Class 57.] A governing device particularly applicable to internal - combustion engines driving electric generators comprises weights 16 guided in a body 15, driven by the engine, and engaging a conical shield 17 loaded by a spring 21 through a thrust race 22. Movement of the governor collar 23 is transmitted by a lever 25 fulcrummed between balls 26c loaded by adjustable springs 26d to introduce friction into the mounting to provide damping. A rotatable cam 30 is provided to engage the end of the lever 25 to limit the opening of the throttle. A spring loaded ball and socket joint 27 is fitted at the end of the lever 25.
