Abstract

170,976. Sharp, J., and Sharp J. W. Aug. 14,1920. Track apparatus actuating signals on trains and for stopping trains.-Signals on the locomotive or brake valves may be operated by a rod a<2> which is operated by suitable links when a roller d engages a track contact. The roller d may be supported on toggle levers d<1> as shown or may slide vertically in guides. The signal may be a disc released for operation by a spring. The track contact comprises an inclined plane c in the form of a box lid pivoted at one end and raised and lowered by an arrangement of levers b<1>, b<3> and held up by toggle-links b<4>. The lever b<1> is clamped to the signal wire d and operated thereby. The pivoted end of the member c is spring supported and counterweighted.
