Abstract
19,399. Cunliffe, J., and Alderman, S. Aug. 24. Track apparatus for stopping trains.-A pivoted ramp a<1> is lifted by the w e ig h t e d bellcrank c, the end c<1> of which engages the underside of the flange of the ramp a<1>, and is connected by a wire or chain d to the signal wire e. A vertically sliding rod g on the engine has a roller j which runs up the inclined ramp when the train passes a signal at danger, and a cam plate k fixed on the rod g slides a rod m which is connected to the vacuum-brake valve so as to apply the brakes.
