Abstract
453,588. Track brakes. KNORRBREMSE AKT.-GES., 9, Neue Bahnhofstrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. Dec. 10, 1934, No. 35471. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 12, 1935]. [Class 103 (i)] One or more non- electromagnetic track brake blocks are mounted on or in an electromagnetic track brake and are adapted to be applied by the latter brake or by a separate electromagnet or by compressed air. As shown in Fig. 1, the non- electromagnetic blocks 5 are fixed to cranked arms 4 pivotally mounted on the electromagnetic brake block 2 and controlled by a fluid pressure cylinder 6. In a modification, a cranked arm is pivoted to the centre of the block 2 and its upper end engages between driving members. Fig. 3 shows a non-magnetic strip 11, for example, of bronze or nickel steel, which is vertically movable within the polepieces 10 of an electromagnetic block. Recesses 12 in the strip are engaged by cams 13 mounted in the polepieces 10 and connected by a rod 14 joining the ends of double-armed levers 15 centrally pivoted on the polepieces 10, the other ends of the levers being connected by links 16 to a member 17 fixed on the vehicle. The drag of the electromagnetic block actuates the cams to press the strip 11 against the rail.
