Abstract

393,244. Fluid-pressure brakes. HUESSY, W., Aarburg, and TRACHSEL, E., 59, Rontgenstrasse, Zurich, both in Switzerland. Aug. 25, 1931, No. 23826. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 103 (i).] The fluid - pressure brake for motor vehicles in which fluid-pressure control means serve as a connection between brake pedal and transmission, a brake applying spring 5 is attached to a piston 4 restrained by a vacuum adapted to be broken on brake application when a vacuum is created on the other side of the piston. A pawl 15 maintains the brake rod 3 in off position. The piston 4 is fixed to the rod 3 in which is movable a slide member 2 connected to the brake pedal 10 by a lever 11. The other end of the lever 11 is connected by link 12 and lever 13 to the panel 15. The spring-containing compartment of the cylinder 6 is connected to the vehicle engine induction pipe through the bore 1a of the slide 2 and ports 19, 19a, the other side of the piston is connected to atmosphere through parts 20, 21, 22. When the pedal is depressed lever 13 is moved to engage an abutment 17 and the end 11a of the lever 11 becomes fixed, the slide 2 is thereupon moved to close ports 19a, 22 and connect them respectively to ports 20a to atmosphere and to the bore of the slide 2 to vacuum, thus releasing the spring 5. The braking pressure is increased by foot pressure when a flange 2a on the slide 2 engages the end of the brake rod 3. Dust covers 25 and solid lubricant 26 and lubricating sleeves 3a are provided for the moving parts. Specification 345,588 is referred to.
