Abstract

257,565. Horz, H.. and Struck, K. Aug. 27, 1925. [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Automatic s p e e d or power control. - Electromagnets 13, disposed between the track rails, the cores extending beneath the rails serve, when energized, to depress a traincarried armature 20 normally raised by springs 18, 19. The armature is connected by a rod 25 with a slide-valve 27 arranged so that, when the armature is attracted, the train-pipe 31 is vented to apply the brakes, and at the same time air is supplied from a pipe 29 to pipe 30 leading to a cylinder 32, a, piston 33 in which is thereby moved to operate the control lever 35 to shut off steam. A number of magnets connected in parallel are disposed along the track between the home and distant signals, and are energized when the signals are at danger through contacts on the signalling lever or on the signals themselves, the magnets being deenergized when the signals are moved to "clear."
