Abstract
169,596. Bergius, W. M. Aug. 18, 1920. Valves; valve-gear.-In an engine in which a single sleeve-valve D, for controlling inlet and exhaust, receives a combined reciprocating and oscillating motion from a crank-pin or equivalent such as G, gear for operating the valves of adjacent cylinders comprises a crank-disc or spider A of greater diameter than the crank-pin circle, having oppositely-extending crank-pins or equivalent members F, G. In the arrangement shown,. the disc A is formed with cylindrical guides for the members F, G, which are connected to the sleeve valves; but in a modification, the crankpins F, G are secured to the disc A and slide in cylindrical guides in the sleeve-valves. The disc- A is supported in bearings M, N and is driven by chain or other gearing.
