Abstract
300,168. British Continental Motors, Ltd., (Assignees of Meyer, A. J.). Nov. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Valve gear.-In a multicylinder engine in which the sleeve valves are given a combined oscillating and reciprocating motion by cranked shafts 21 connected to a coupling-link 18, for example as described in Specification 227,972, the link 18 engages with eccentrics 30, which are mounted loosely on crank pins 27 on the intermediate shafts 21 so that they may adjust themselves to compensate for inaccuracies in machining and assembling. The end shafts 21 are formed with cranks 17 connected to the link 18, and are secured by pins 20 to wheels 16 gearing with worms 15 on the valve shaft 10, which is driven by a chain 12. These end shafts 21 are keyed adjustably to portions 22 carrying the valve-actuating cranks 24. Balancing-weights are provided at 32, 33.
