Valve gear. - The pinion or gear wheel a driving the cam shaft is split into two halves and secured to the fly- Wheel end of the crank shaft by being formed with a flange a<1> which is bolted to a flange on the crankshaft, preferably the flange b<1> to which the flywheel c is attached, and by the same bolts d. The two parts of the pinion may be centralized by engagement of the flange a<1> with a recess e in the flywheel, or by the bolts d, or by making the two parts a close fit around the crankshaft.
